NSPCA Special Projects Unit attended the South African Boerboel Breeders Society (SABBS) International Show in South Africa
On the 6th and 7th of October, our Special Projects Unit attended the South African Boerboel Breeders Society (SABBS) International Show and Expo at the Afridome in Parys. We have been monitoring these shows for some time now, and unfortunately, we continue to witness a concerning trend among breeders – the maiming of Boerboel dogs’ tails.
It is disheartening to see that despite our efforts, this battle against tail maiming persists in our country. Breeders should accept the vital truth: “breeding standards” do not supersede the law.
Those who promote and participate in such acts may face legal action. Maiming animals for cosmetic reasons is not only cruel but also illegal. We are committed to fighting this battle against those who prioritise appearance over the well-being of animals.
